What is BearSkinny? LOTS of stuff… But, right out of the gate, I want to clarify what BearSkinny is NOT.

We are NOT...
a weight loss program.

Our Focus:
SOOOOO many women get totally wrapped up in spending all their energy trying to move numbers around thinking that is the KEY to a healthy weight. WHAT THE CRAP LADIES!? Your body is not a math problem! If it were as easy as math… being “fit” would also be EASY. BearSkinny takes a different approach. Step back a little and look at your current relationship to fitness. Are you getting to the gym or doing regular exercise frequently? If you are… Are you dragging yourself there? OR If you aren’t getting there… why not? Regardless of your specific response to the above questions, the solution isn’t necessarily easy, but it also isn’t complicated. If you were excited about being active, you’d be active. If some of your best friends and your most supportive people around you were right there sweating with you, you’d be active. If these SAME PEOPLE were constantly, I mean on a DAILY BASIS, asking you, YOU SPECIFICALLY, to go check out a new class at the gym, or meet them at the playground with the kiddos to run around and PLAY. Or hop in the car with them to trip down to go shopping at an amazing natural food store out of town, you bet for sure… you would be healthier and more active, almost without effort. This should clarify that your struggle with reaching your optimum level of health, is not based on your ability to properly perform a bicep curl, or that you’re just crap at math. I’m sure you hear a million times over by tons of trainers, “It’s a lifestyle change.” Then they show you how to properly perform a bicep curl and help you complicate your already stressful relationship with food by adding math and restrictions. How the heck is THAT HELPFUL? So what do we do?? We kinda do this…

Aesop's Fables: The North Wind and The Sun

The North Wind boasted of great strength. The Sun argued that there was great power in gentleness.
"We shall have a contest," said the Sun.
Far below, a man traveled a winding road. He was wearing a warm winter coat.
"As a test of strength," said the Sun, "Let us see which of us can take the coat off of that man."
"It will be quite simple for me to force him to remove his coat," bragged the Wind.
The Wind blew so hard, the birds clung to the trees. The world was filled with dust and leaves. But the harder the wind blew down the road, the tighter the shivering man clung to his coat.
Then, the Sun came out from behind a cloud. Sun warmed the air and the frosty ground. The man on the road unbuttoned his coat.
The sun grew slowly brighter and brighter.
Soon the man felt so hot, he took off his coat and sat down in a shady spot.
"How did you do that?" said the Wind.
"It was easy," said the Sun, "I lit the day. Through gentleness I got my way."

Bottom line… You need the day lit around you. We help by supplying you with the environment that, if you let it, will dissolve your excuses, or “remove your coat” per say by allowing these new and inspiring people into your bubble to enrich your life. Sharing in, not just listening to, your goals, challenges, struggles, and trip ups… then actually taking it to the next level and walking right beside you through it all. Actual friends you can meet at the gym, maybe you can show off your perfect bicep curls to each other. Haha.
